Idli could
be a very healthy food for obese patients………………………..
If one go
back to history ………………idli was made up of only dehusked, fermented black gram……………
the component of rice has been recent addition………..since 17th
century, where as idli had been a popular snack since 10th century.
Present practice
of making idlis……
Addition of
rice along with urdal or black gram is a recent phenomenon, the ratio being 2/3rd
being rice and 1/3rd being the lentil. Despite this idli is
considered healthy because no oil is added. And good amount of protein and its
steam baked.
My recommendation
for making idlis:
· Use 2/3rd of lentil and
1/3rd of rice
· Try to make only urdal/ black gram
dehusked batter (as it used to be done initially)
· Do not add ghee or oil to the vessel
of idli maker
· Make chutneys without adding oils
· Then sure u are destined loose weight
